Diversity Fellowship Program violates Employment Discrimination Laws

In Business, Employment by GWAO

Columbia University’s BuzzFeed created a Diversity Fellowship Program in order to bring Investigative Journalists of various backgrounds to work for the Publication. The dilemma is that as a fellowship, this clearly violates Employment Discrimination Laws. Pure Fellowships can be targeted for this type of Discrimination, however a job does not have the same scrutiny attached. Therefore, the fellowship has now become an Employed Position, because the role includes benefits and a desk.
