Speeding in a School Zone Demands $250 FIne

In Criminal, Traffic by GWAO

There is an increased penalty for speeding in a school zone (N.C.G.S. 20-141.1 and 20-141(e1)). Previously, the fine was $25. Now, like work zones, the penalty is $250 dollars, a 10X increase. It remains an infraction, and carries three insurance points, and does not allow for the Safe Driver Incentive Plan that would otherwise prevent an increase in insurance rates.
