Greensboro Defense Attorney Explains New North Carolina Probation Legislation:

Supervision upon Appeal of Revocation: After probation revocation if a probationer appeals the revocation decision, probation supervision will only continue when the defendant is granted release under bail. If the court does not set bail release conditions, the person will then go to prison to serve the activated sentence. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 15A-1347.
