A Summerfield man who held Guilford County Sheriff’s deputies off in a standoff has died.

Last week, Tyson Williams barricaded himself on Oak Forest Drive and alleged to have a hostage.

Guilford County 911 received a call from a woman claiming that the accused had tried to kill her. When law enforcement arrived, Williams allegedly barricaded himself in an outbuilding. Shortly thereafter, deputies heard a shot and found the man allegedly shot himself during the standoff.

The man died of the self-inflicted wounds Monday.
