FedEx Sued by EEOC

In Business, Employment by GWAO

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed suit against FedEx Ground Package System Inc. in U.S. District Court in Maryland, alleging the company violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title I of the Civil Rights Act.

The suit specifically targets FedEx Ground in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which employs a “significant number” of deaf and hard-of-hearing people in its package handler position in distribution facilities.  The EEOC alleges that FedEx failed to provide essential accommodations and needs for these individuals, denying them equality of work and the benefits and privileges of the employment,

FedEx denies these claims.
