Our Greensboro Criminal Lawyer is looking into a case where a Greensboro man recently stole an SUV with children in the backseat. Johnell Chance, 51, is charged with 2nd Degree Kidnapping for taking the kids who were in the vehicle. He’s charged with larceny of a motor vehicle for stealing the car. He’s also charged with larceny of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Just before the fourth of July, on July 3, at 8:32 PM, officers responded to Academy Sports due to a report of a stolen vehicle. Law enforcement has advised that the 2015 Ford Explorer was parked in front of Academy Sports in the loading area. As the owner was getting their items prepared to be loaded the man ran up and got inside the SUV.

The bad part is the owner of the car had already put their children inside the car. The children, 9 and 10, were sitting in the back of the vehicle as the man stole the car and drove away. The man stopped the stolen vehicle and let the children get out of the car and run away.

At 5:45 AM on the 4th of July, Officers found the vehicle abandoned in Burlington.
