A grandmother has recently been charged with stealing her grandchild’s Christmas gift. And yes, you read that right. Not only is she alleged to have stolen her grandchild’s gift, she’s also purported to have sold that gift and pawned it for cash according to a Greensboro criminal lawyer.

Initially, a family reported that several presents were stolen from underneath their Christmas tree. One of the items was a Nintendo Switch video game console. An attorney in Greensboro was advised that detectives were able to track the Nintendo Switch down to a local pawnshop.

Upon arriving at the pawnshop and furthering their investigation that’s when they were advised that the person who pawned it was the grandchild’s grandmother. A family law attorney at our law firm has been advised that the family was absolutely floored when they were made aware of who the culprit was.

The grandmother was arrested and charged with misdemeanor larceny and felony obtaining property by a false pretenses. She was placed under a $7,500 bond. A criminal defense attorney is awaiting an update as to whether or not she bonds out.

The family still has items that remain missing from under their tree. It’s our sincere hope that the grandmother will come clean and let them know where their items are in time for Christmas.
