Bicyclist Killed in Durham

Tony Morris Turner, 56, died killed Saturday night after he was hit as he rode his bicycle, police said.

According to investigators, Turner, of Durham, was hit on North Roxboro Street around 8:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said when they arrived to the scene they found a Turner lying in the southbound lanes of North Roxboro Street near the Old Farm neighborhood.  A damaged bicycle was found a short distance away.

Investigators believe that the vehicle that struck the bicyclist was a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Police said no one actually saw Turner get hit by the vehicle, but the incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run.
