Our Greensboro Workers’ Compensation Attorneys are reviewing a press release from the North Carolina Industrial Commission detailing that, by the end of the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2017-2018, the Compliance Unit collected over $5.1 million in penalties from employers for non-compliance with the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act.

This significant increase in the amount of penalties collected shows that the Industrial Commission has become serious about penalizing employers who refuse to carry workers’ compensation insurance and otherwise fail to comply with the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act.

It also reiterates that there is far more fraud and noncompliance taking place by employers in North Carolina, rather than injured workers.
