Any Color Flashing Lights – Move Over!

In Criminal, Traffic by GWAO

N.C.G.S. 20-157(f), or as its commonly called, the “move over law,” was expanded to include any public service vehicle or utility vehicle, with “amber colored flashing lights.” So in addition to not speeding past NC State Troopers and other law enforcement officers, the law now requires the same deference to be given to electric, cable, maintenance, and telephone vehicles. Essentially, if it has flashing lights, move over or slow down if you can’t move aside.

If you should be charged with a failure to move over for an emergency vehicle ticket, please contact us.  We can assist you, and potentially prevent insurance points or even a conviction.
